Teachers offer showcase at Sisters Art Works

Sisters Art Works and The Barclay Gallery will host the first annual Fall Instructor Showcase on Friday, August 18 between 4 and 7 p.m.

Artists who will be teaching art classes at Sisters Art Works this fall will be in attendance doing demonstrations and giving folks a chance to meet them and get a feel for their style and approach.

The porch will be filled with fresh cut zinnias and sunflowers compliments of Gina Bany from West Linn (just outside of Portland). Her garden is an inspiration to painters and photographers in the Portland area, and she has offered to bring some flowers to Sisters to sell and to provide instructors with models for their demonstrations.

The fall class line-up features instruction in Beginning Stone Carving taught by Kenneth White II and watercolor classes taught by Kathy Deggendorfer. Sondra Holtzman will be teaching classes in simple book construction and image transfer. Norma Holmes will be demonstrating her plein aire pastel techniques; Steve Matthews will be teaching painting with acrylics and Shari Denfeld will have examples of her calligraphy.

There will be classes in collage by Pam Jersey Bird. Cindy Briggs will be teaching Tuscan landscape watercolor techniques and Paul Alan Bennett will be teaching a color and design class.

Visitors are invited to come and meet the artists, listen to music, buy some flowers and check out the classes.

Sisters Art Works is located at 204 W. Adams Ave. For more information call 549-8115 or visit http://www.sistersartworks.com.
