News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters High School girls' varsity soccer team will have a new coach this fall.
Brian Holden has been a soccer player himself since he was in high school. Brian played for Redmond High School as a right defender and went on to play as a forward for Central Oregon Community College for two years. Holden played one more year as a forward at Pima Community College in Arizona.
Since then Holden has played at the midfield position for several men's teams.
Holden currently plays for Cascade Lakes Brewery; the team is a part of the Cascade Amateur Soccer Association (CASA). In January of 2006 the team traveled to Las Vegas to play in the Las Vegas Cup. Holden's team took first out of 14 teams that had gathered from across the nation.
For the past three years the team has made it to the finals at the Oregon Soccer Classic in Portland, which is held over Memorial Day weekend.
Holden also plays for the Premier Amateur Indoor Soccer League (PAISL). PAISL is a semi-professional men's indoor soccer team in Bend with a season that runs from December through February. Brian has played for the Central Oregon Steelheaders of the PAISL for the past three years, and this past February the team made it to the Regional Finals held in Wenatchee, Washington.
For the past three years Holden has coached the boys JV team and worked closely with varsity coach, Rich Hummell. Prior to coaching at the JV level, Brian coached several youth teams over a seven year span.
