Toni Berke Foster died on August 23 of cancer at the age of 59. She died quietly at home under the care of her husband, Mark Foster.
A memorial service will be held at Camp Sherman community Hall on Thursday, August 31, at 3 p.m.
She was born to Robert and Patricia Berke of Lake Oswego on September 11, 1946. She moved to Camp Sherman in 1978. She married Mark Foster on August 14, 1987.
Toni Foster will be remembered for her tireless passion for teaching and connecting with young people over decades of service through education. She taught in Lake Oswego, then at Black Butte School in Camp Sherman from 1978 until her death.
She also served as a firefighter and EMT. Since 1981 she had served on the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Camp Sherman Hasty Team and Citizen Emergency Response Team.
She also served on the Jefferson County Education Service District; the Jefferson County Planning Commission; was President and co-founder of Friends of the Metolius and was active in virtually every community activity in Camp Sherman.
She is survived by her husband Mark; stepchildren, Carri Danielson of Sunriver; Shauna Hilton of Montague, California; and Scott Foster of Camp Sherman; and four grandchildren.
