News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws are proving a force with whom to be reckoned on the soccer pitch, knocking over opponents one after another.
The girls' soccer team notched another win on Monday, September 24 when they defeated Cottage Grove (CG) 3-1 at home.
The Outlaws started out slow, which resulted in CG scoring in the first five minutes of the game.
"They (CG) definitely worked hard and challenged and frustrated our girls for a few minutes," said Coach Brian Holden.
Katie Taylor, with an assist from Kelly Morton, scored Sisters' first goal in the 16th minute to tie the game 1-1. Thirteen minutes later Taylor scored again, thanks to an assist from Hattie Tehan. Liz Dale capped Sisters' scoring with five minutes remaining in the game.
Holden commended Taylor for her fine play.
"Katie had a hat trick in our last game, and today she scored two goals," said Holden. "She's doing a good job finding the net and is very composed in her shooting."
Two days later the Lady Outlaws traveled to La Pine and walked away with an 8-0 shut out.
Katie Taylor scored a hat trick in the contest to lead the Outlaws offensively. Audrey Tehan, Liz Dale, Mackenzie Williams, Kelly Morton and Taylor Pelham each contributed a single goal.
Sophomore Hattie Tehan is happy with the team's new coach and his approach to the game.
"Our new coach has been doing a really good job in changing our style of play, and our team is also adapting well to the style," she said. "Instead of putting pressure on the goal all the time, we're playing from the back, and we're using our midfield a lot more than last year."
The Lady Outlaws are undefeated for the season, 5-0 in league and 6-0 overall.
