News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The girls' volleyball team swept the courts on Tuesday, September 26 defeating La Pine with scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-17.
Sam Stoneback started the serving for the Lady Outlaws in the third game and pushed the Outlaws to a quick 10-0 lead. La Pine finally got the board, but Sisters continued to control the game and easily won the match in three.
Lanie Milroy led the offensive attack with seven kills, and libero Becky Bremer finished with 16 digs.
"The kids did a really good job of keeping up their intensity, and we tried to keep playing at our level," said Coach Chris Crosby.
Two days later the Outlaws defeated Cottage Grove (CG) in four games. Sisters lost the first game 25-22 and then went on to win three straight, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15.
"Game three was pivotal for us," said Crosby. "Each team had won one game and to go up 2-1 was really important. CG played really good defense and our girls played offensively aggressive all night."
Felicia Pledger was the Outlaws' kill leader with 13. Sam Stoneback did an excellent job at the serving line and finished 23-25.
Crosby said, "Kali (Ulmer) really stepped up her play in the third game, and our setters (Stoneback and Katie Weber) did a good job getting her (Kali) into a rhythm. The girls are really starting to gel."
Players Lanie Milroy and Felicia (Fee) Pledger have been pleased with what they see happening on the court.
Middle hitter Milroy said, "This past week our back row has been really strong. Their digging and passing has been very accurate."
Right side hitter Pledger said, "Our tournament this past week gave us confidence to have faith in each other. It made us into a stronger team at critical times. Our setters have also been doing a great job. They're mixing up our offense and making it more unpredictable."
The Lady Outlaws are ranked No. 8 in the state. They are 3-2 in Sky-Em play and 11-6 overall.
Sisters will travel to Junction City on Thursday, October 5.
