Roadside fight leads to meth bust

Sheriff's deputies arrested David Alan Dugger of Bend for assault and possession and distribution of methamphetamine after pulling him over last week in the wake of a domestic fight.

According to sheriff's office reports, witnesses reported seeing a man at the side of Highway 20 near Sisters, kneeling on top of a woman and hitting her in the head.

Dugger allegedly pushed the woman into his truck and sped off.

Deputies pulled Dugger over. According to sheriff's office reports, Dugger, who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, consented to a search of his vehicle. Deputies reportedly turned up a scale with methamphetamine residue and baggies containing crystal methamphetamine that, in the deputies' estimation, was more than an amount associated with personal use.

Deputies arrested Dugger on a fourth degree assault charge for the alleged domestic attack and for possession and distribution of a controlled substance. He was lodged in Deschutes County Jail.
