Volleyball squad tied with Marist for second place

The Lady Outlaws swept La Pine 25-8, 25-18 and 25-18 on Thursday, October 19 and are currently tied with the Marist Spartans for second place in the Sky-Em League.

Haylee Schaab, Kali Ulmer and Leslee Zenich each had five kills. Zenich also had three aces at the service line.

Setters Katie Weber and Sam Stoneback combined for 27 assists.

"We came out focused tonight," said Coach Chris Crosby. "We have really been working on our team communication on the court. We know that we have to keep talking to each other and encouraging each other all match long."

Two days earlier Sisters lost three games straight to the #1 ranked Hilanders of Burns (3A) in a non-league match. Scores were 23-25, 22-25 and 18-25.

"We were terrible on our serve receive passing, and we didn't cover our hitters," said senior libero Becky Bremer.

The Outlaws were off the whole night long, and Burns was relentless in finding holes in Sisters' defense.

Two days later Sisters swept Cottage Grove (CG) with scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-21.

Setter Katy Weber went 19 for 19 at the service line to lead the Outlaws offensively. Weber scored seven straight points to start the third game. Felicia Pledger had 10 kills, and Kali Ulmer contributed six.

"We served very strong and mixed it up with short balls and long balls," said Crosby.

The Lady Outlaws were to host Elmira on Tuesday, October 24 and will play Marist on Thursday, October 26 in a tie breaker for second place.
