News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The newest dentist in Sisters has had a big smile since starting his own practice in the town he has loved since boyhood. Brad Braman, DMD, purchased his practice from dentist Kris Blodgett and began seeing patients in January. The four prior employees remain with the practice.
"This practice was the first one that met the criteria of being a really good dental practice in all aspects," said Braman.
Braman has been in practice for four-and-a-half years. He was working in the Salem area looking to start his own practice.
"We're keeping the same commitment to offering high-tech, high-quality dentistry," added Braman. He strives to make his work last a long time, feel good and look good.
Braman graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University. While in dental school, he kept himself busy running a dental lab. Braman said this additional experience creating crowns and bridges was valuable because as a dentist he knows "the other side of restoration." He is enthusiastic about continuing education and takes many classes throughout the year on the newest technology and techniques in dentistry.
Ironically, it was a cold experience in Sisters' Whychus Creek that began Braman's career as a dentist. Although his father and grandfather are dentists in Oregon, Braman thought he would chart a different course and become a fisheries biologist. While in college he found himself snorkeling in Whychus Creek one February counting fish. That freezing experience sent him back to his family tradition.
Braman has enjoyed fishing Sisters' area rivers since he was a boy. He and his wife, a sixth grade teacher, continued enjoying time in Sisters.
"We set a goal when we were in college - we're going to move there one day," said Braman.
Both Braman and his wife grew up in small Oregon towns and are happy to be back in one.
"We really enjoy the relationships you develop in a small town over the years," said Braman. He is enjoying meeting the people of Sisters who he said have been very welcoming.
Braman has provided care to patients from ages eight months old to 101. He said that in his dentistry experience, an ounce of prevention is worth a lot more than one pound of cure.
"Be proactive and take care of things before they become a problem," said Braman.
"We do everything we can to make our patients' visits here comfortable and enjoyable," he added.
Braman Dentistry offers a full range of general and aesthetic dentistry. The office is located at 354 W. Adams Ave. Call 549-0973.
