Ski racers tear up slopes

With the second of six league races now complete, the Sisters High School Women's Alpine Ski Team is showing they will be the team to beat for the Central League Championship this year.

With Liz Dale back in the line-up the Sisters girls completed two stellar runs in the second Giant Slalom at Mt. Bachelor to finish the day on top of the race roster, besting the Bend High School girl's squad by nearly 10 seconds and the Summit High School team by 30 seconds.

Led by Liz Dale, the Sisters girls finished first, third and fourth with Jenna Sneva and Annie Hancock backing Dale.

Sisters skier Nicole Veloso finished 14th, and Bethany Bachman came in 22nd.

The Sisters boys also repeated their third place finish from last week, despite late race crashes by Michael Cristiano and Lucas Rietmann. The performance leaves the boys solidly in third place in the league standings ahead of Mountain View but trailing the league-leading Summit Boys and Bend High School.

A personal-best performance from Davis Rapp (13th) led the Sisters boys followed by Jake Thomas (16th), Lucas Rietmann (20th despite falling in the second run), Nick Anthony (22nd), Steven Enger (28th), Dominick Deleone (34th), Eric Adler (35th), Nick Christiano (37th) and Skye Ling-Scott (38th). Michael Cristiano and Andrew Enger failed to finish both runs.
