News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
At its monthly February meeting, the Sisters Urban Area Planning Commission recommended that a new project proposed by 3 Sisters Partners be approved by the Sisters City Council. The city council hearing will give the public more opportunity to comment on the multi-use project just east of Pine Street.
Commissioners voted four to two to recommend approval of the 30-acre project from applicant 3 Sisters Partners headed by developer Peter Hall. The project has both residential and industrial components and includes Three Sisters Business Park.
Commissioners voted to recommend that the city council amend Sisters' Comprehensive Plan to change some acreage from a light industrial zone to residential. This vote was in accordance with the city planning department's recommendation and would allow a live/work environment which makes way for loft style apartments over industrial buildings.
The proposed residential neighborhood borders the Trapper Point neighborhood. In response to neighbors concerns about density of housing, the developers reduced the total number of units to 20 single family homes, 42 townhomes or apartments and 19 industrial lots with a potential for 57 lofts on top.
This project will come before the Sisters City Council at a date not yet scheduled.
