Sisters Folk Festival hosts My Own Two Hands

The Sisters Folk Festival has announced that the annual, community-themed art fund-raiser My Own Two Hands will run April 13-14.

This year's theme is "Gather Round." The theme celebrates the creativity of the Central Oregon arts community and the talent of young people in Sisters.

The fund-raising event generates money for the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival, the Americana Project.

The event kicks off on Friday, April 13, with a community art stroll from 4:30 to 7 p.m. through Sisters, where the galleries and select sponsor locations will be displaying art work donated for the event.

The Sisters High School Jam Scene Brass Band will parade through town ending at Bronco Billy's Ranch Grill and Saloon for the Performing Arts Evening and Benefit Chili Feed, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Headlining the evening will be Elisabeth Ames and the Countrypolitans.

The annual Art Party and Auction will be held at Ponderosa Forge on April 14 at 6 p.m.

This event has traditionally sold out each year.

Artists donating work this year include: Tom Browning; Kathy Deggendorfer; Liz Ganji; Paul Alan Bennett; Dan Rickards; students from the Sisters High School advanced art classes; and many others

Tickets are $55 for the Saturday evening auction and party. Entertainment for the Saturday evening event will be the 12th Avenue Hot Club from Portland. The quintet plays a blend of '30s and '40s jazz swing era music.

To view the art for sale, participate in the art stroll Friday, April 13 or visit http://www.sistersarts.org.
