Lady Outlaw golfers on winning streak

The girls' golf team continued their winning streak with first-place finishes at Tokatee on Monday, April 9 and again two days later at Mallard Creek.

Sisters' shot a 378 for a solid finish and first-place honors at the Tokatee Golf Club under very rainy weather conditions. Henley was 43 strokes back at runner-up. Marist finished third with a team score of 444, Cottage Grove fourth (456) and La Pine fifth (462). Sweet Home participated but no scores were counted because they had an incomplete team.

Lindsay Reeve led the Lady Outlaws with a 46-44-90, and Shelby Ross was just two strokes back at 47-45-92. Alexis Wainwright carded a 51-44-95, and Meghan Crowder had her best round of the season with a 53-48-101. Claire Mutchler shot a 112 to round out the scoring.

Two days later Sisters earned another first-place finish at the Mallard Creek Golf Course. The Lady Outlaws finished with a team score of 360, an incredible 102 strokes ahead of runner-up Cottage Grove (462). La Pine shot 515 to finish third. Sweet Home and Lebanon had incomplete teams.

Holly Ewing of Cottage Grove took medalist honors with a score of 84 for the round. The next four top finishers were all from Sisters.

Reeve once again led the Lady Outlaws with a 45-42-87. Wainwright was two strokes back at 42-47-89. Crowder carded a 46-45-91, and Shelby Ross finished at 47-46-93. Claire Mutchler shot a 97, Emily Rawls a 115 and Stephanie Cole a 122.

Reeve birdied on a par five. She told The Nugget she felt pretty good about her overall play but was frustrated with her putting.

Reeve added, "The weather was slightly better than our last tournament at Tokatee, but at one point it was raining so hard I couldn't see where the ball went. Our team really held it together and persevered. Everyone got under 100, and we were happy with the way we worked as a team."

"I was pretty pleased with the play of the kids today," said Coach Mary Flande. "We had five kids under 100, and I've got to be happy with that."

Flande noted that Ross had two solid rounds for the week and both Reeve and Wainwright continue to play consistent golf.

"Our team still needs to improve our chipping and putting," said Flande. "I think we are giving up too many strokes in this part of our game. A few too many three-wiggles are being carded. But at this point in the season, I'm pleased with the progress, but we need to continue to improve and finish strong."
