Lacrosse team loses to tough Liberty squad

The boys lacrosse team traveled to Liberty on Friday, April 20. Although the Outlaws lost the match 2-7, Coach Bill Rexford thinks it was the best game his boys have played all season.

He said that Liberty was definitely the best team they've played all season.

At the half Liberty held a 5-0 lead over the

Outlaws.

"Their goals were made on our mental errors," said Rexford, "not because they were better than us. They just have more lacrosse experience. Their shots were very hard and picked at the corners. On the other hand, we hit the goalie in the head, the arm, and bruised him up a little bit, but we need to learn to shoot around him. Against a good goalie, our shots were like playing catch with

him."

Sisters came back to score two goals in the second half to avoid the shutout.

Rexford told The Nugget that after the game Liberty's coach commended the Outlaws team.

"Their coach said we out-shot them, out-hustled them and out-ground-balled them," said Rexford.

The Outlaws' players felt it was the best they've played all year and were fired up that, at times, they played even with one of the best teams in the state.

On April 28, the Outlaws will host a JV Jamboree. Thirty teams from around the state are scheduled to attend the event.
