Rider injured in horse wreck

A 41-year-old man was badly injured when his horse rolled on him west of Sisters on Saturday, May 26.

According to Deschutes County Sheriff's Office reports, Gary Dahlquist was hurt near Graham Horse Corral early Saturday afternoon. Dispatch received a cell phone call reporting the incident.

With the GPS coordinates given by the reporting party, Black Butte Ranch Fire and Search and Rescue personnel were able to quickly locate the injured party in a large meadow approximately a half-mile mile from Graham Corral.

The patient was stabilized by Black Butte Ranch Fire and Search and Rescue personnel. Due to the extent of his injuries, Air Life of Oregon was activated. The patient was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

The rider's condition was unknown at press time.
