John Edward "Jack" Bood

Jack Bood of Sisters died on August 7. He was 88.

He was born in Warwick, Rhode Island to Edward & Anne (King) Bood.

He married Martha Johnson on February 28, 1945, in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Mr. Bood worked on the first nuclear submarine "Nautilus," then on many other ships. He was lead carpenter on the construction of St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He moved his family to Central Oregon in 1961. He built many custom homes in Sisters.

He loved his squirrels, writing, deep sea fishing, horses and all animals.

Survivors include his wife Martha Bood of Sisters; sons Gary of Baker City, Roy of Vancouver, Washington and Jason of Springfield; daughters Linda Mathieson of Canada, Beverly Bood of Sisters, Nancy Huff of Enterprise, Joyce Dorsey of Dayton and Barbara Nelson of Burns; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter.
