Nasty wreck produces moderate injuries

A frightening wreck at the intersection of Highway 20 and Cloverdale Road on Saturday evening a little before 7 p.m. turned out to be less dangerous than it appeared.

According to Oregon State Police, the wreck occurred when an eastbound Honda sedan driven by Eric Steensen, 17, turned left toward Cloverdale Road and was struck by a Ford passenger car headed westbound.

The passenger-side impact left the Honda's passenger, 19-year-old Megan Gaudreau, trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters from the Cloverdale and Sisters fire districts responded to the wreck and extricated her from the vehicle by cutting off its roof.

She was transported via Air Life to the hospital due to concerns about possible internal injuries, but her injuries turned out to be non-life threatening.
