Lady Outlaws shut down La Pine in soccer action

Sisters continued to dominate league play in a three-game sweep over Marist at home on Monday, October 8. Scores were 27-25, 25-19 and 15-17.

The Lady Outlaws started out slow in game one and struggled to pass the ball but managed to pull off the win. Sisters played more aggressively and widened the point spread the final two games of the match.

Outside hitter Haylee Schaab led the Outlaws with 13 kills on the night.

"Haylee had big night," said Coach Diane Bremer. "Her play was outstanding and she terminated a lot of balls for us. She's only a sophomore and is already a dominating force in this league."

Fee Pledger had seven kills on the night and Rachael Tenneson was tough at the net with seven blocks and six kills. Senior setter Sam Stoneback had 19 assists and was 18 for 19 from the service line.

Brook Goins was the dig leader for night with 13. Jessie Snow added seven digs and Aria Garau contributed five.

Sophomore setter Dani Thompson did a great job coming off the bench and made good things happen for the Outlaws.

"Dani quickly put down two kills as a front row setter and that continued to build our momentum on the evening," said Bremer.

Two days later the Outlaws swept Pleasant Hill (PH) in three games with scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-21.

Schaab led the Outlaws offense with 10 kills. Pledger had nine kills and Tenneson recorded six. Tenneson also contributed four blocks.

Middle blocker Lani Milroy was unable to play due to illness and Shea Kotal was moved to cover that position. Kotal had two kills and two blocks on the night.

Stoneback did a great job of running the offense and dished out 19 assists. Thompson had 14 assists on the night.

Goins led the defense with six digs and a backrow kill. Snow recorded six digs and Garau added five.

Kali Ulmer had a solid performance going 14 for 15 from the service line. Ulmer also had three kills, two blocks and one assist.

"This was an important game for us," said Bremer. "We went five long games with Pleasant Hill in the first round of league. We knew we wanted to control the match much better this time at our house. I'm very pleased with the level of play the girls are exhibiting. Mentally, they are showing up each night ready to compete and players on an individual basis are really stepping it up. This just makes the overall team performance that much better."

The Outlaws have three league matches remaining. Sisters will travel to Central on Tuesday, October 16, for a non-league match and then host La Pine two days later.

The Outlaws continue to hold onto first place in league standings with a record of 8-1.
