Lady Outlaws keep rolling on hardwood

The Lady Outlaws showed up in La Pine ready to take care of business last week. They beat their south county foe in three games on Thursday, October 18, with scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-11.

Before the start of the game, the team took time to honor their five seniors: Sam Stoneback; Rachael Tenneson; Kali Ulmer; Brook Goins; and Aria Garau. The Outlaws also honored Don Minson, a 10-year supporter, volunteer and coach. Don and his wife, who are leaving the Sisters area, will be missed by staff, coaches and students.

From the start of the match, the Outlaws dominated play. La Pine did manage to put up some good blocks, but Sisters was able to keep running its offense and control the match.

"I was very pleased with the speed and execution of our offense," said Coach Diane Bremer. "Every player on our squad was fired up and played well."

Shea Kotal and Jessie Snow did a phenomenal job from the service line. Kotal was 16/16 with 10 straight service points in game two. Snow had six straight service points in game one. Snow was jump-serving throughout the match and finished with five aces on the night.

Emily Douglass was also perfect from the service line going five for five with two aces.

Fee Pledger was kill leader for the night with 11 kills. Pledger executed some powerful swings and dominated the outside. Kali Ulmer contributed six kills, and Haylee Schaab added five.

Sam Stoneback dished out 15 assists and Dani Thompson added 11.

"Dani came in for us in game two and ran a great succession of quick attacks with middle Rachael Tenneson in the front row that really built some good momentum for us," said Bremer.

Earlier in the week on Tuesday, October 16, the Lady Outlaws lost to the Central Panthers in a hard fought battle. The non-league match went to five games. Central squeaked by to win game one 27-25. The Outlaws had the opportunity to win when they served for game point but couldn't manage to score the point. The Panthers also claimed game two with a score of 25-14. Sisters battled back to take games three and four with scores of 25-22 and 25-19.

Sisters had the momentum heading into the fifth game but allowed Central to jump out to an early lead and then were unable to catch them. Sisters lost 9-15.

"It was an awesome volleyball match," said Bremer. "We obviously would have liked to come out on top as we head into playoffs, but we're both good teams, and we were playing some intense volleyball. We weren't playing at the top of our game but still played them well."

Pledger led the Outlaw offense with 22 kills on the night. Schaab contributed 14 kills, and Tenneson and Ulmer added four kills each. Setter Sam Stoneback finished the night with 30 assists. Ulmer led the Sisters' defense with 11 digs. Libero Brook Goins had nine digs and Snow added eight.
