News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws basketball team lost 31-59 to Cascade in a tough game on the hardwood at home on Friday, December 7.
The Outlaws played great ball 80 percent of the time, but when their offensive and defensive schemes broke down, it was costly. At the breaking points when the Outlaws lost their poise and confidence, Cascade took full advantage. The Cougars pounced on the opportunity and scored many easy buckets in the paint off two-foot jump shots and lay-ins.
The Outlaws played with the Cougars and were within three with approximately two minutes left in the second quarter. At that point Sisters lost their focus and the Cougars pulled to a 24-12 advantage at the half.
"When we lost our composure, we had no backside help. We couldn't find open bodies and we didn't make contact on the rebounds," said Coach Kevin Cotner. "We have to find a way to play four consecutive quarters on the court."
On a positive note Cotner told The Nugget that his team decreased their turnovers by 10 compared to their last game and increased their performance from the foul line. Sisters went 8-14 from the line, whereas the week before against Stayton they were only 2-10.
Danielle Allen finished the game with six points, and Brandi Palmer added five.
The Outlaws will travel to Sweet Home on Friday, December 14.
