Sisters Library to host art exhibit

The Sisters Library is about a lot more than books. Friday evening, January 18, at 5:30 will mark the opening of the Sisters Library Third Annual Art Exhibit.

The first art exhibit was held in January 2006 in celebration of the grand opening of the Sisters Library.

More than one hundred local artists have been invited to display their works at the Sisters Library Third Annual Art Exhibit which runs from January 18 to February 27. The public is invited to a reception planned on January 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., to meet the artists and preview their works. Some art works will be available for sale with sales arrangements made through the Friends of the Sisters Library (FOSL) Art Committee.

Artists displaying their work at the upcoming Third Annual Sisters Library Art Exhibit will bring up to three pieces of wall-hung art and/or five pieces of other art forms, such as jewelry, ceramics, sculpture.

Among the many local artists who will be presenting their work will be Barbara Walter. Walter, who works in traditional watercolor technique and mixed media, says: "I am inspired by the world around me to capture a moment in time."

She has been painting for the past 20 years.

Jean Stark, who displayed beautifully carved African gourds last year, will present Native American motif carved and wood burned boards.
