News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Willie Carmichael will take the stage at Café Libri at the Sisters Public Library on January 26, at 2 p.m.
Singer/songwriter Carmichael calls his music "hard folk" and says listeners won't find a lot of songs about sunsets and daffodils in his repertoire. He sings with passion and wry humor about real life, including glory and disappointment, rage and redemption, love and sorrow.
Carmichael was a finalist in the 2007 Sisters Folk Festival Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest. Carmichael performs solo and with his band, the Jack-Booted Thugs. Their new CD is titled "Whistling Past the Graveyard."
Café Libri events are hosted once a month
throughout the library district. During this time, regular library services are available. This program is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
