News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Outlaws notch another victory

The Outlaws continued their undefeated run in league play with a 75-31 win over La Pine at home on Friday, February 1.

Sisters jumped out early and by the end of the first period held a 16-11 lead over the visiting Hawks. The Outlaws held La Pine to just eight points in the second quarter to push to a 41-19 advantage. Sisters scored 35 points in the second half and held the Hawks to 12.

Unselfish play and a total team effort led to the Outlaws victory. Ten different players scored points for Sisters. Daniel Ketchum led the onslaught with 15 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Tyler Miller pulled down 11 boards and scored nine points, and Nate Jackson finished the night with 11 points.

The Outlaws defense was at its best and was very effective all night long. Sisters had 28 tip balls for the night.

Coach Rand Runco was pleased with the entire team's performance.

"I just hate to use individual stats because the win really was a team effort," said Runco. "Our chemistry these last few games has been really good, and the guys are making that extra pass. They're fun to coach, and we all work well together."

Runco added: "Our goal is to keep improving on a daily basis. It will be a tough fight to the end, and we just have to keep at it."

Next week will be a dogfight against the league's leading teams. Sisters will face Marist on Wednesday, February 6. The Outlaws were unable to travel to Marist on Tuesday, January 29, and the game had to be rescheduled. On Friday, February 8, the Outlaws will host the Tigers of Junction City.
