Edith Mary Larson died March 8, 2008, at the age of 82 of cancer.
A memorial service will be held at Sisters Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 68825 Brooks Camp Rd., on Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m.
Edith was born May 23, 1925, in Salem, the daughter of Fred and Lydia Schifferer. She married Robert Larson on July 1, 1949, in Salem. Edith graduated from Turner High School, attended Willamette University for two years and received her B.S. degree in Home Economics at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
She lived the past 28 years in Central Oregon - 23 in Camp Sherman and the last five in Redmond. Edith taught home economics several years in Lebanon and 16 years at Parkrose High School in Portland. Her joys were her church, family and friends. She enjoyed travel and entertaining and is renowned for her culinary skills.
Edie's famous Marionberry cobbler, baked in mass quantities, raised money for several Sisters' charitable groups over the years. Survivors include: her husband Robert; daughter Leslie McHugh and husband Riley of Sisters; son Mark Larson and wife Judy of Oregon City; and five grandchildren.
