The boys golf team earned a second-place finish in its first tournament of the season at Crooked River Ranch on Thursday, March 20. The squad endured a wide array of weather, including sun, rain and snow and finished with a score of 311.
Summit earned the first-place spot with a score of 300. Stayton finished third at 334, Madras at 363 and La Pine at 404.
Michael Reeve turned in a score of 71 to earn medalist honors.
"Michael was five under par but ran into trouble on the back side," said Coach Jeff Barton.
Evan Mitchell carded a 75, Cody Farr-Benzinger an 81, Aaron Simundson an 84 and Jonathan Standen rounded out the scores with an 85.
"It was a good start to the season as we beat Stayton who tied with us last year," said Barton. "Aaron (Simundson) played very well in his first varsity match. It was a nice surprise."
The Outlaws will swing back in action on Thursday, April 3, with a match at Arrowhead.
