Girls tennis team takes down Summit

The girls tennis squad battled through cold weather and snow flurries to earn a 7-1 victory over Summit on Thursday, March 20.

Sara Brown (No. 1 singles) defeated Laura Berthad 6-4, 7-5, and No. 2 singles player, Bethany Backman easily defeated Fionna McFarland 6-4, 6-2. Maddie Green (No. 3) earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sophia Loy.

The doubles teams swept the competition in their matches. Ashlee Garau and Marissa Tosello (No. 1 doubles) defeated Amy Geibert and Sierra Sullivan 6-3, 6-3. The duo played an outstanding game. Tosello did a great job and stepped in for Tori Miller, who was unable to play in the match.

Nicole Veloso and Tori Carlson (No. 2) earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Maddie Dunkabel and Paige Thompson and the No. 3 team of Kirsti Burck and Maria Rosche defeated Katie Benedict and Kelsy Schultz 7-5, 6-1.

Marin Allen and Jacquie Bryan (No. 4) played together for the first time and did a great job. Coach Marti Dale told The Nugget that the duo played off of each others' strengths to earn the win. Allen and Bryan defeated Georgie Meyer and Justine Stuemke 6-1, 6-0.

The Lady Outlaws next match will be at home against Mt. View on April 8. Sisters fell 7-1 to Madras on Saturday, March 15, in their first match of the season.
