Art Stroll features a treasure hunt

The My Own Two Hands Art Stroll set for Friday, April 11, will feature a new twist - an art treasure hunt. My Own Two Hands is a two-day fund-raising event that benefits the Sisters Folk Festival's Americana Project, the musical outreach program in Sisters schools.

"We will be hiding two art pieces in two different (art stroll) locations," said festival events director Katy Yoder. "The first people who find them will get a prize."

The stroller who finds the "Duck of Reflection Decoy" created of glass beads by Wendy Vernon will win a $100 gift basket from The Hen's Tooth. The treasure hunter who turns up the Pleiades Princess hand Mirror by Cate O'Hagan will win a gift basket from Sisters Movie House.

The treasure hunt is part of an effort to make the art stroll "more family-friendly and fun for all ages," Yoder said.

The art stroll will feature pieces of art from contributors to My Own Two Hands and music from a variety of local musicians around Sisters. Directly following the art stroll, the community will gather for the Performing Arts Evening and Bronco Billy's Benefit Chili Feed, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Bronco Billy's Ranch Grill & Saloon.

Performances scheduled for the chili feed include students from Sisters middle and high schools Americana Projects, ending with a rousing encore performance by the Sisters High School Jam Scene Brass Band.

The annual Art Auction and Party at Ponderosa Forge & Iron Works is set for April 12, at 6 p.m. A few tickets are still available for this event and can be purchased by calling the Sisters Folk Festival office at 549-4979. For more information visit http://www.sistersfolkfestival.org.
