Sisters salutes...

•The Rasmussen family, whose house in Crossroads burned earlier this month, wrote: "We would like to express our deep appreciation to the Sisters community and the businesses and individuals who have been so kind and generous to our family in our time of need. We are so very fortunate to live in such a close and caring community.

"Special thanks to Sisters High School, Ponderosa Lodge, FivePine Lodge, Hair Caché, Bedouin, Navigator News, Lutton's Ace Hardware, Hoyt's, Your $12.99 Store, The Nugget, Radio Shack and Cascade Vacation Rentals.

"And our heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters, Red Cross and Kiwanis club. Thank you to the many individuals who helped us."

•Theresa and Rick Slavkovsky wrote: "We would like to thank Anne Seile, affectionately known as "St. Anne," for volunteering her time and talent as a musician for the past 23 years at St. Edward the Martyr Church.

"Anne recently resigned as the music director. Anne brought the choir together each week for practice to share music and song at the Saturday evening mass.

"Her spirit of joy, laughter, kindness, thoughtfulness, concern, and compassion for all will be greatly missed.

"Thank you Anne for bringing music to our hearts in so many ways. Know that you and the choir members' gifts and talents are greatly appreciated."

•Ruth Lovegren wrote: "Thank you and congratulations to Tara MacSween, Jody Henderson and the students who participated in the concert Wednesday evening (March 19) at Sisters High School.

"The choir and band were both outstanding. Those of you who didn't get to hear them, you missed listening to a superb concert. You really don't want to miss next year."

•Skye Dorsett has earned his Ph.D. in physics from Oregon State University. He will soon start working for a company in the computer field in Seattle.
