Sisters Library welcomes 'Little Girl'

"I feel like I've just given birth," said Peg Bermel, Sisters Branch Manager, as a small crate was rolled into the library. "We have been waiting for this little girl for nine months."

The eagerly-awaited event was the delivery of a bronze sculpture of a girl reading a book, the newest Friends of the Sisters Library (FOSL) acquisition for the children's room of the library.

It will be a companion piece to the bronze little boy, donated earlier to the library by David and Linda Woods in memory of their son who died in an automobile accident.

Several library patrons commented that a bronze of a little girl would be appropriate in the library as a companion piece to the little boy, and the FOSL Executive Board and Art Committee acted on the suggestion.

The Friends of the Sisters Library's sole purpose is to supply items for the library that are outside the normal library budget - such as the recent purchase of a new state-of-the-art digital projector used by the Sisters community in the community room of the library and "The Little Girl" bronze.

Without the donated books sold at the Annual FOSL Used Book Sale (July 12 this year), financial assistance to purchase library "goodies" would not be possible.

Donations of fiction as well as non-fiction books, CDs, DVDs, VHSs and children's books are all encouraged.

The only subjects that do not sell are textbooks and encyclopedias - everything else is appreciated.
