News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The sounds of 3 Leg Torso enhanced the experience of the My Own Two Hands Art auction on Saturday, April 12, at Ponderosa Forge & Ironworks in Sisters.
Their music was captivating, and the evidence was on the dance floor and throughout the room. As the crowd at the art auction grew, the eclectic music led them into new places.
"You felt as if you were traveling the world all in one night, each song from a different place with a different meaning," said one auction patron.
The band's performance played a major role in the auction's appeal. People not only were intrigued by the art but also mesmerized by the eccentric musical compositions the band delivered.
Originating from Portland, this band started in 1996 as a violin, cello and accordion trio. Over the years they have become a quintet that has a variety of music that ranges from chamber to world music.
They have been playing for the past 12 years. The band consists of Béla Balogh (violin, and trumpet), Courtney Von Drehle (accordion), Gary Irvine (percussion), Kyle MacLowry (percussion) and Michael Papillo (bass).
