Phillips (No. 2 singles) defeated Duy Tang 6-3, 6-3 in an outstanding performance. Phillips has played in the No. 3 singles position most of the season but the past two matches moved up to the No. 2 position and won both matches.

Coach Stuwe told The Nugget that Stuwe and Newport have played for fun in the past and match up well. Stuwe decided to pair them as a team and see what would happen. The duo pulled off a complete upset when they defeated Michael Kahler and Kory Isley, who were expected to be the No. 2 seed at districts. Stuwe and Newport won the match 7-6 (7-0 tie breaker), 6-4.
Erik McKinley (No. 3 singles), who wanted to give singles play a try for the first time this year, defeated Nathan Koher 7-6 (7-5 tie breaker), 6-4.
