Girls tennis suffers loss

The Lady Outlaws lost 6-2 at home to Junction City on Thursday, May 1. Last week, on Thursday, April 24, the Outlaws only managed one win in their match against Crook County which was held at Black Butte Ranch.

In Thursday's match against Junction City the two wins came from No. 3 singles player Maddie Green and the No. 3 doubles team of Jacquie Bryan and Marin Allen.

Green trounced Hannah Nelson 6-0, 6-0 and the duo of Bryan and Allen defeated Amanda McCombs and Mallory Rock 7-6 (7-1 tiebreaker), 6-0.

"Maddie is a very consistent player and understands the strategy of the game," said Coach Marti Dale. "She just keeps getting better and better. Jacquie and Marin had a very close first set but came out solid in the tiebreaker and then the other team just gave up."

The No. 3 doubles team of Jacquie Bryan and Marin Allen were the lone winners in the match against Crook County last week. The duo defeated Chelsie Sinirin and Kristi Robinson 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Bryan and Allen both executed well. Allen played particularly well at the net and Bryan had an outstanding serving game.

"The girls (Bryan and Allen) were down in the second set and they came back and adjusted their game in the third set to win," said Coach Marti Dale.

The Lady Outlaws plan to work hard in preparation for districts at Black Butte Ranch on Thursday and Friday, May 7-8.
