Raymond L. Hayden of Black Butte Ranch died Friday April 25, 2008 on his 80th birthday at his home in Palm Desert, California, of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Memorial services and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Estacada.
Mr. Hayden was born in Gresham on April 25, 1928, and grew up in Three Links, 20 miles up the Clackamas River near Estacada.
Ray was a franchised Chevrolet dealer in Estacada from 1959 to 1969. After selling the Estacada dealership, Ray and his family moved to Newport and purchased the Chevrolet-Olds-Cadillac dealership. In 1990 he sold this dealership and retired to Black Butte Ranch. Ray enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Ray was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia A. Hayden, whom he married in 1948 and lived and worked side by side with until her passing in 1990.
Ray is survived by his current wife Carolyn M. Hayden of Palm Desert, California and Black Butte Ranch; daughters Sherri A. Jenkins and husband Bill of Phoenix, Arizona; Debbie J. Mueller and husband Steve of Estacada; and his son Dale L. Hayden and wife Jan of Bend. He is also survived by his three granddaughters; Jodi M. Scott and husband Danny of Eagle Creek; Tricia R. Keidel and husband Jeremey of Tigar; Tracie R. Hayden of Bend; along with his two great-grandchildren Megan Scott and Austin Scott of Eagle Creek.
