Sheriff's office investigates diesel theft

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a dual-wheeled metal fuel trailer from the construction site of the new Ray's Food Place in Sisters.

The trailer is the property of the Bend Oil Company and contained approximately 1,500 gallons of off-road diesel fuel. The fuel is valued at approximately $6,000 dollars and was the property of the construction firm, Taylor Northwest.

The trailer is white in color and features red lettering, "Bend Oil Contractors Services."

The tank on the trailer is cylindrical in shape and is approximately eight feet in length and seven feet in width. It is equipped with tandem axles supporting single wheels and features a hose reel and a Honda-brand pump on the front portion of the trailer. There are neither license plates nor lights attached to the trailer which was last seen at the job site at approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29.

Taylor Northwest is offering a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the subjects involved in the theft of fuel and the trailer. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information regarding this event is asked to call Sgt. Shelton with the DCSO Detective Division at 617-3393 during regular business hours and to call the non-emergency 911 line at 693-6911 all other hours.
