News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters students, city officials and a local forester celebrated Arbor Day in Sisters last Friday with a song and the planting of new trees on school grounds.
Chad and Cathy Stadeli of C & C Nursery donated three trees for Arbor Day. The fourth grade classes planted two of the trees, a spruce and a red maple, at the elementary school. Members of the planning commission and city council attended and were treated to a song by the fourth graders.
The third tree, a chokecherry, was planted at Sisters Middle School by Rob Jensen's sixth grade Roots and Shoots class.
Katie Lompa, community assistance forester from the Oregon Department of Forestry, attended both plantings to assist with proper planting technique.
C & C Nursery also donated last year's Arbor Day tree. The nursery may be contacted at 504-5255.
