Outlaw heads to Texas for baseball camp

The Outlaws baseball season may be over, but Aaron Fegenbush is not ready to hang up his spikes.

The Outlaws junior is headed south to Texas this summer for a month-long baseball camp conducted by legendary former San Francisco Giants player Orlando Cepeda.

Fegenbush will play on the Cepeda Giants travel team, which includes 16 players who hope to play baseball in college.

Fegenbush plays first base, though he allows that he is "kind of a utility player."

The Outlaws used a designated hitter to cover his spot in the lineup for much of the season, but in the playoffs Fegenbush came up with critical clutch hits, including a game-winning two-RBI hit against Ontario and an RBI sacrifice against Astoria.

Fegenbush plans to work with the bat at the Cepeda Baseball camp.

He hopes to "improve on my swing (and learn to make) better pitch selection," he said.

Fegenbush was selected for the Cepeda Baseball program on the recommendation of a scout.

"There's a scout who works for these guys out of Prineville and he came out to one of our games in Crook County," Fegenbush said.

The Sisters youth needs to raise $2,500 to make it to Texas for the program.

Donations are welcome.
