Hats off to the organizers of the Memorial Day Barbecue, which followed the ceremonies at the Village Green. Gary Frazee and Sno Cap Drive-In provided the food, with the Ski Inn donating food when the first lot ran out. Roger White from the Camp Sherman Store donated all the drinks.
Congratulations to the seniors receiving scholarships and awards at the annual awards celebration last week. The Sisters community stepped forward with some $145,000 in scholarships and awards for graduating seniors.
Superintendent Elaine Drakulich noted that all 165 of Sisters' graduating seniors leave high school having worked with counselors and the ASPIRE program to map out their future.
Several Sisters area practitioners pitched in to offer free sports physicals at Sisters Middle School and Sisters High School.
According to SHS secretary Pinky Pagano, the practitioners performed a a record 125 physicals at the high school.
The practitioners included nurses Sally Benton and Nancy Dempsey; doctors May Fan, Eden Miller, Jeff Holmboe, Blake Nonweiler; nurse practitioner Kathy Lein; physical therapists Gary Keown, Suzy Ramsey, Marlene Dumas and Thom Harrer; trainer Laura Schwendiman.
There were also many parent volunteers.
