Cha-Cha is a new girl in town, and she knows how to draw attention. Stylishly adorned in the latest beach fashions, Cha-Cha holds court outside Siesta Suntan on Main Avenue She willingly poses for photos, and has been known to send little boys scampering to find their mothers.
Cha-Cha is a mannequin, but not your average department store plaster dummy. Siesta Suntan manager Kathy Wolfe said the perfectly proportioned body seemed just right to show off some of the flirty fashions the store carries. But when they accessorized the model according to the season or a particular event, she started to take on a personality of her own.
A personality that lends itself to a name like Cha-Cha.
During Rodeo weekend, she wore a bright red cowboy hat. Fourth of July found her in a stars and stripes swimsuit and sequined hat, holding a flag in each hand.
"Be sure to stop by to see what the latest theme is," said Wolfe.
She added that tourists regularly pause to have their photo snapped with Cha-Cha, perhaps with a touch of envy that she looks so great in swimwear.
