John Robert Bolton died July 2, 2008 after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.
He was born on May 7, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Robert E. and Mary (Kopta) Bolton. As a youngster he grew up in El Segundo, California where he graduated from high school and became an eagle scout. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Cornell University and his MBA from Stanford. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army reserves.
He married Leslie Doyle in San Francisco in 1961. John held several executive positions in the air freight and financial service industries prior to forming, running and selling his own manufacturing company. He became a certified financial planner in the late '70s and retired in 1985 to move to Sisters to design and build his dream home.
He was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Sisters.
After retirement, John and Leslie traveled extensively, visiting over 50 countries and the South Pacific islands.
John is survived by his wife, and three children: Robert (Amy) of Truckee, California; Lee Petmecky and Jennifer (Roy) Burroughs both of Redmond; and three grandchildren: Benjamin and Jacklyn of Truckee; and Alexandra of Redmond.
A private family service is planned in the mountains of Idaho at a later date.
