Gallery hosts Western-themed event

The West will get a little bit wilder in Sisters next Saturday, as Jennifer Lake Gallery serves up an all-day Western event.

The centerpiece of the event is the unveiling of Jennifer Lake's series "Oregon Love Story of the Wild Wild West."

"It's a story I've written to coordinate with paintings," Lake explained.

The unveiling takes place at 1:30 p.m.

Before that, starting at 11 a.m., artists from the Sugar Cone Art Academy will be working on the gallery's porch. At noon, Lake will unveil the White Lake Ranch Collection, which combines Lake's work with that of other artists and furniture makers to create unique, complete home decor.

Photographer Gary Alvis and legendary furniture maker Robert Seliger will be on hand for the event, as will Wyoming photographer Kathy Singer and bronze artist Kristy Usher.

Sisters hatmaker Gene Baldwin, who has contributed hats to Lake's collection, will also be featured.

There will be a casual fashion show and an afternoon of music by Little Fish, a band out of Texas.

Lake noted a bit of synchronicity of which she was unaware when she planned her event: July 26 is the National Day of the American Cowboy.
