Sisters woman promotes wellness

Jade Schneringer is used to feeling good.

She's fit and athletic and active, so when her health took a strange turn to the bad last year, she started looking for ways to recover her usual vigor.

"I was off work for a few months," she said. "I was really really sick. I thought I was dying."

She discovered USANA Health Sciences nutritional supplements. Founded by Dr. Myron Wentz, USANA creates nutritionals that are manufactured to the highest standards of potency and effect and the company voluntarily follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) established for pharmaceuticals."For me, the results were just astonishing," Schneringer said.

She began to recover her accustomed energy levels and her overall health. Then she began to think about a business opportunity, offering others the health benefits she received.

"You just naturally want to share that with friends and family," she said.

Schneringer initially started to sell USANA products from her home, but she quickly decided she wanted a commercial space and she turned to the healing-arts-centered area of Sisters Art Works. That facility is home to artists, the Sisters Folk Festival, massage therapists and other wellness practitioners.

"All the things we do in this building are healing in and of themselves," Schneringer said.

Schneringer is the media manager for the Sisters School District, so this project is not her principal endeavor. However, she is very serious about establishing herself as a resource for people pursuing preventative measures to ensure and enhance their well-being.

She is careful to set limits and parameters.

"I'm not a doctor, I don't give medical advice," she said. "With any kind of health supplement, you always want to check with your doctor first."

In addition to providing high-quality vitamins and minerals, Schneringer wants to help her clients change their hurried and often negative eating habits through group work and workshops.

"I see it as a real educational thing," she said.

Schneringer calls her business JadeWest Wellness. For more information, call 610-5104, e-mail [email protected] or visit http://www.jadewest.usana.com.
