Community can donate 'Tools for School'

Sisters Les Schwab Tire Center is hosting the "Tools for School" school supplies drive.

Community members can drop off school supplies during regular business hours and help students in need begin the school year well equipped for a successful year.

Items needed are: college-ruled notebook paper; one- and two-inch three-ring binders; tab dividers; college-ruled spiral notebooks; large and small index cards; composition notebooks; wooden rulers; colored pencils; markers; pencil pouches and pencil boxes; dry erase board markers; Fiskars scissors; watercolor paints; glue sticks; folders; sketch books; yellow highlighters; calculators; clip boards; glue sticks; pencils and pens.

Schools request no "Trapper Keeper" type notebooks or wide-ruled notebook paper.

The Pony Express in Sisters is offering Tools for Schools materials at discounted rates.

Also needed are backpacks for middle and high school-aged students, boxes of Kleenex and hand sanitizer.

School supplies collected will be distributed to students in need at the Sisters Family Access Network (FAN) office located in the Sisters School District Administration building at 525 E. Cascade Ave.

Distribution will begin Tuesday, August 26, at 8:30 a.m.

Last year, Sisters FAN distributed school supplies to 90 students. For many local children, the drive provides their only means of obtaining their necessary school supplies.

For more information on Sisters FAN, call the office, beginning August 26, 549-0155.
