New teacher on board for fifth grade

Tiffany Tisdel is a new fifth-grade teacher at Sisters Middle School.

She is experienced at this level, with 10 of her 11 years in the Bend-La Pine School District teaching fifth grade. Tisdel taught in Portland at a Montessori School for five years.

Her education includes a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in biology at Oregon State University and a Master of Arts in teaching, also from OSU. She was born and reared in Bend and taught where she attended school, at Bear Creek Elementary.

Her husband, Brad Tisdel, is Executive Director of the Sisters Folk Festival. They have a son, Spencer, who will be two at the end of September.

Tisdel said a big challenge is to teach all subjects at the fifth-grade level. She said she is impressed with the staff and administration in Sisters.

"It's a real pleasure to be here," she said.
