Outlaws earn easy victory in volleyball opener

The Lady Outlaws volleyball team stomped the Billies of Pleasant Hill in an easy win on Thursday, September 11, in their league opener. The match ended with scores of 25-8, 25-7 and 25-7.

Sisters' focus and determination led to an exceptional match and outstanding serving paved the way for the Outlaws victory. Kaity Douglass, Justine Head, Shae Kotal and Sydney Stoneback were all perfect from the line. Douglass and Head went 14/14, Kotal was 13/13 and Stoneback finished 11/11 with three aces. Jessie Snow went 15-17 at the service line and the Billies had a very difficult time passing her jump serves.

Fe Pledger continued to lead the Outlaws offense and finished the night with nine kills. Haylee Schaab had seven kills and Shea Kotal added five. Emily Douglass had four kills on the night.

"We did a good job of moving the ball around the net to keep all of our attackers involved," said Coach Diane Bremer.

Jessie Snow led the defense with nine digs followed by Justine Head who had five digs. Kaity Douglass recorded 22 assists for the night and Dani Thompson had six assists. Thompson joined the team for her first game of the season after recovering from an injury.

The Outlaws will travel to Marist on Tuesday, September 16, and face the Spartans, who were the No. 2 team in the state last season.
