Peter Dempsey teaches social studies

Peter Dempsey joins the staff at Sisters High School this year teaching social studies and Digital Photography..

This is his first year of teaching, although he has been a substitute for the last couple of years.

Dempsey received a bachelor's degree from University of California in Davis in 1981. He owned a mail-order motorcycle accessory business for 14 years. During that time, he began thinking about becoming an educator.

He sold the business to his employees and obtained his master's degree in education from Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. He was able to attend classes in Bend to obtain the degree, along with some intense summer work at La Grande. Dempsey teaches all grade levels.

His wife, Patty, sells real estate for Windermere in Bend. They have two children. Their daughter is a senior at Redmond High School. Their son is in Denmark at an international business program.
