Outlaws fall to La Pine on the gridiron

The Outlaws lost 14-7 at La Pine on Thursday, October 9.

The first snow storm of the year made play difficult for both teams.

La Pine scored in the first quarter on a five-yard pass, their kick for the extra point was good and the Hawks went up 7-0.

The Outlaws answered back with a three-yard run by Chase Klient. Marteen Jiminez was good on the PAT and Sisters tied it up 7-7.

In the second quarter the Hawks scored on a quarterback sneak, got the PAT and pushed to a 14-7 advantage.

Neither team was able to score in the second half and the game ended in a league loss for the Outlaws.

In spite of the loss, Coach Dusty Macauley said the Outlaws' defense played well.

"Overall, the defense played very well despite the fact that they gave up a lot of yards," he said. "They had several goal night stands and that was great."

Macauley was also pleased with the effort of his offensive line which includes Tyler Miller, Andrew Enger, Thomas Arends, Sean Tosello, Jordan Tandy and Randy Ketchum. Macauley told The Nugget that the offensive line blocked extremely well and have done a good job all season.

Andrew Goodwin led the defense with 10 tackles, Lucas Reitman had nine tackles and Miller added six.

Nick Head had his best game of the season and rushed 22 times for 150 yards. Chase Kleint rushed 15 times for 107 yards and was 6/6 throwing for 77 yards.

The Outlaws will host Marist on Friday, October 17.
