Lady Outlaws take ninth straight on the hardwood

The Lady Outlaws volleyball team notched three wins this week to push their winning streak to nine straight matches.

Sisters beat La Pine on Tuesday, October 14, with scores of 25-13, 25-8 and 25-13. Two days later the Lady Outlaws trounced Elmira 25-6, 25-4, 25-6. Sisters capped the week with a 25-11, 25-5, 25-13 sweep over Junction City (JC).

Sisters played a bit flat in Tuesday's match against La Pine and didn't have their usual spunk due to sickness that has affected most of the team. Regardless, Sisters got the job done in three quick games.

Kaity Douglass was the Outlaws dig leader for the night with 10 digs. Justine Head followed with nine digs.

Fe Pledger led Sisters with 13 kills. Emily Douglass had eight kills, Jenny Kaiser finished with five and Shea Kotal added four. Kaity Douglass dished out 17 assists and Dani Thompson recorded 14.

The Outlaws continued their impressive performance from the service line with Kaity Douglass going 24/24 with five aces.

Two days later the Outlaws swept Elmira with scores of 25-6, 25-4 and 25-6.

Pledger went 13/15 from the service line with nine aces and was the kill leader with nine kills.

Kotal finished the night with seven kills and Emily Douglass contributed six kills. Courtney Satko had four kills in the middle. Kaity Douglass and Dani Thompson combined for 25 assists.

Libero Jessie Snow led the defense with 10 digs and Pledger added seven.

"We did a great job of controlling the tempo of the match. We stayed focused and executed well at every opportunity," Coach Diane Bremer said.

On Saturday, October 18, the Outlaws notched their third straight sweep for the week with their victory over Junction City.

Sisters came out very composed and dominated game one. Sisters ran their offense effectively and their defense was solid.

In game two, Shea Kotal scored an amazing run from the service line. Kotal served 10 in a row and most of her aces came with pinpoint accuracy.

Pledger dominated at the net and recorded 17 kills. Freshman Hannah Harrer recorded her season-high seven kills on the night and also had four blocks. Haylee Schaab had five kills and Kotal had four. Kaity Douglass had 16 assists and Dani Thompson recorded 13 for the night.

Jessie Snow and Justine Head were both solid in the backcourt. Snow had 16 digs and Head finished with five.

"We are playing very solid volleyball right now and our focus is to eliminate any area of weakness and get faster on the net," said Bremer.

The Outlaws are currently 10-1 in league and 32-1 overall.
