Boys soccer team finishes third

The boys soccer team wrapped up league play with a 1-0 loss at Junction City on Thursday, October 23. The loss put the Outlaws in a third-place finish in the Sky-Em league. Fourth place Junction City was to travel to Sisters for a playoff game on Tuesday, October 28.

In Sisters final game of the season, Junction City scored in the 65th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The goal was a result of a free kick from just outside the 18-yard mark from the right corner. JC headed the ball in for the score.

"I don't think we played at the top of our game," said Coach Rob Jensen. "We were a little off and I know we can play better. It will be good to have a home game because it seems we play better at home. It's going to be a do-or-die situation for us."

Two days earlier, the boys soccer team played their best game of the year which resulted in a 1-1 tie at home against Cottage Grove.

The game was scoreless until Cottage Grove drove in a header at the 47-minute mark. Twelve minutes later the Outlaws evened the score. A cross from the outside mid got through the defense and Patrick Young punched it in for the score.

"Patrick played really well and scored on his birthday which was pretty cool. He stepped up for us in a big game," said Jensen.
