The Lady Outlaws volleyball team defeated North Bend at home on Saturday, November 1, advancing to Lane Community College for a 1:15 p.m. match against Yamhill Carlton on Friday, November 7.
Sisters beat North Bend in four games with scores of 25-19, 25-11, 20-25 and 25-19. Fe Pledger led the Outlaws with 14 kills and seven blocks.
Freshmen players Hannah Harrer and Sydney Stoneback both put up big numbers for the Outlaws in the state playoff game.
Harrer went 20/20 from the service line and 15 of those serves came in game two. When Hannah stepped up to the service line, North Bend held a 9-7 lead and when she finished serving Sisters held a 22-9 advantage.
"Hannah served tough and very levelheaded under pressure," said Coach Diane Bremer.
Stoneback recorded a season-high 15 digs.
"I can't say enough about Sydney's composure," said Bremer. "She was absolutely solid at right back and even recorded her first kill of the season."
Haylee Schaab and Courtney Satko both had 10 kills for the night. Satko also had two blocks. Jenny Kaiser had three kills and five blocks and Harrer put up seven blocks in the match.
Kaity Douglass and Dani Thompson combined for 45 assists, 23 and 22 respectively.
Bremer told The Nugget the Lady Outlaws are thrilled to be going to Eugene for the state championships for a second year.
"Our team motto this year has been 'Dare To Do It Again'," said Bremer. "It's down to eight teams now and the competition is getting tougher. We hope the community will come out in full force to support us. It's going to be a great tourney."
The state playoffs will be held Friday and Saturday, November 7-8, at Lane Community College.
