Lyle E. Stuwe

Lyle E. Stuwe died of congestive heart failure on October 19, 2008 at the age of 91.

Lyle was born October 9, 1917 in Hubbard, to parents August and Lilly (Blosser) Stuwe. He married Helen (Dodge) Stuwe on November 19, 1938. Helen predeceased him December 20, 1992 after more than 54 years of marriage.

Lyle is survived by daughter Yvonne and husband Hugh Buermann of Cottage Grove; son Bruce and wife Dwan Stuwe of Olympia, Washington; son Boyd and wife Kathy Stuwe of Sisters; sister Irva and husband Ernie Graham of Canby; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lyle was a longtime resident of Oakland where he was a member of the Lions Club, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 91, the Community Presbyterian Church, a volunteer fireman, city counselor and school board director.

He was also a member of Champoeg Masonic Lodge in Canby.

After Helen's death in 1992 he began spending most of his time in Sisters, and in 1999 sold his home in Oakland and became a full-time resident of Sisters to live with family.

His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and, before Helen's death, traveled to many fascinating spots around the world. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Oakland Community Presbyterian Church or Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #91, Oakland, Oregon. A service was held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Oakland on October 24.
