Rent, utility help available in Sisters

Sisters FAN (Family Action Network), in partnership with NeighborImpact of Central Oregon, is providing a program for utility and rental assistance to Sisters families.

On Friday, November 14 at Sisters City Hall, staff from NeighborImpact will be available to provide information and applications for assistance.

From 10 a.m. to noon, information and applications will be available for utility assistance. Bring the following information: last 30 days of income of anyone working in the household; date of birth and social security numbers of all those in the household; household utility bill with account number. This is a walk-in service.

For rental assistance, a one-hour meeting will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Anyone late for the meeting will not be able to apply for rental assistance.

The meeting will consist of information concerning tenant-landlord rights; rental agreements; housing rights and more. Those attending this meeting will receive a packet including a rental assistance application. Applications are to be submitted after the meeting.

Due to the fact that more people are expected to apply for rental assistance than available resources, NeighorImpact will randomly select applications from the pool. Anyone with a 72-hour eviction notice may bring the notice to the meeting.

The rental assistance program provides half of one month's rent for households not more then one month behind on rent. The program cannot assist households two to three months behind on rent.

NeighborImpact is a private non-profit organization whose funding comes from federal, state, and local sources, grants from private foundations and donations from individuals and businesses.
